About
Welcome to the Pipeline "Bead Hand from the Promised Land" course, your gateway to mastering the art of pipeline welding with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). This comprehensive program is designed to prepare you for a successful career as a pipeliner, mainliner, or pump-station welder/fabricator. Whether you're a beginner or looking to enhance your welding skills, this course offers a robust curriculum that covers the essentials and beyond. In this course, you will delve into the fundamentals of pipeline welding, starting with an introduction to safety protocols and the principles of SMAW welding processes, all aligned with ISO standards. You will learn about proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), electrode selection, and positioning, as well as advanced welding and fabrication techniques. The course also covers welding code criteria and regulations to ensure you meet industry standards. You will gain hands-on experience in welding pipe positions, including 2G (Horizontal weld), 5G (fixed position pipe), and 6G (pipe at a 45-degree upright angle), using Groove welds on 8”, and 12” diameter pipes. Additionally, you will learn to lay out, prep, fit, and weld the Branch Weld (Saddle) using both 6010 and 8010 “4.0’s-5.0’s” rods. Your skills will be put to the test with mechanical testing of your 6G position pipe welding specimens to ASME Section 9 code standards and API 1104 (Pipeline Standard) VT acceptance criteria. You will also be evaluated on your lecture-based educational knowledge to fulfill lab and class hours. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a certificate of proficiency in SMAW (Stick) for Pipeline (downhill) welding. This certification will enable you to produce high-quality, sound welds and perform work in the midstream pipeline sector, DOT-regulated facilities, pump-stations, tank farms, and other oil field areas. Join us and become a proficient welder ready to tackle the challenges of the pipeline industry.
